Quick Reviews

4.10 Gears

Excellent feel compared to stock, though I wish I had 4.30s or 4.56s even.  4.10s do make a nice 0-60 gear, but not so great for 1/4 mile times.  Gas mileage is around 18 city and 24 highway.

Steeda Tri-Ax shifter

Excellent shifter feel compared to stock.  Although the stock TR-3650 shifter has a good feel, it can't compare to the feel of the Tri-Ax.  My only complaint with the Tri-Ax is gear noise, and lots of it.  If this were a Cadillac that would bother me, but being a Mustang, I don't mind it too much.  It just reminds me that I need to get a louder exhaust setup!

Steeda Underdrive Pulleys

Subtle but noticeable increase in power over stock.  Not something that I recommend to guys wanting a supercharger, but for you NA or nitrous guys, this is a must..

Steeda Timing Adjuster

Good torque increase, but not much of a horsepower increase.  Nice to have if wanting to adjust timing for the best power for different days or times of the year.  Also nice for retarding time for nitrous applications.

Chrome Strut Tower Brace

Its all about the bling-bling.  No handling differences at all were felt.  It may have made the front .1% stiffer, but nothing that can be felt.  Sure does look nice under the hood, though!

Eibach Pro-Kit Springs

Not my style, but would be nice for someone looking to drop their car around 1.5-1.7" while retaining a relatively soft ride.  My next set of springs will be a set of drag race springs, or possibly a set of coilovers.

Aluminum Driveshaft

Smoothed out the driveline vibrations quite a bit.  Also *feels* like it revs faster, though its probably more of my imagination.  This modification was more for the added strength of the larger diameter aluminum shaft than anything else.

Bilstein Struts

Excellent struts.  Theres nothing that I can complain about with these struts, except maybe the fact that they aren't matched well with the Eibach Springs.  The Bilsteins would be more suited to a heavier spring like H&R Race springs.  The ride was smoothed out a bit with the Bilsteins, but the Eibachs really need more compression and less rebound dampning.

Raptor Performance Shift Light

Very nice shift light.  Small enough to mount inconspicuously, yet bright enough to be seen without looking for it.  Very nice to be able to watch the road instead of the tachometer, especially with 4.10 gearing.

Steeda Quick Release Clutch Quadrant & Firewall Adjuster

The Quick Release Quadrant really tightened the clutch feel up, and makes for easier speed/power shifting.  No longer do you have to consciously press the clutch completely against the floorboard before shifting.  The firewall adjuster isn't the best design, but is sufficient.  I am thinking of replacing the adjuster with the UPR piece that has a jam nut on it.

Hawk HPS brake pads

Stock Cobra brakes are very capable, but when the Hawk HPS pads cost only $15-20 more per set, why not try the upgrade?  The pedal feel was instantly improved, and the cold performance was slightly improved.  Warm the pads up a bit, and the braking ability is greatly improved.

Chrome AFS 17x9" + 17x10.5" 2003 Cobra Wheels

VERY nice quality.  Nothing to complain about with these wheels.  They're very lightweight compared to similar wheels.  The 17x9" came in at 24lbs each and the 17x10.5" at 28lbs.

Nitto 555 ZR 275/40/17s + 555 R 315/35/17s

Very nice tires.  Much better with wet weather than stock, even with the drag radials in the back.  Traction on launch is NO problem whatsoever.  The only bad thing is the car will feel slower because you won't spin nearly as much, which is really a good thing.

Maximum Motorsports IRS Subframe Bushings

Wheel hop is pretty bad on the IRS Cobras, and not easy to get rid of.  These bushings will take out a lot of the hop.  I can't make my car hop in the dry anymore, but it still hops slightly in the rain.  The install for these bushings is a real pain, but nothing the home mechanic can't handle.

Mobil One Synthetic ATF

Put simply...don't do it.  I'm preparing to drain the Mobil One and fill up with Redline D4 ATF, which is supposed to be far superior.  I wish I had researched this a bit deeper before jumping on the Mobil One bandwagon.

SPEC Stage II Clutch

VERY nice clutch engagement.  Quick and precise release.  I'm having to get used to the new clutch, as the stocker slipped so much, but I'm getting better at it.  I'm bogging the car badly off the line because I'm not slipping enough.  Clutch engagement is so fast, and has so little slip, I think squeaking the stock tires going into 4th wouldn't be too hard, though I haven't been able to with the Nitto 315 DRs.
