 My 2000 Ford Mustang v6 One major fault of all the 99+ (and maybe prior year) Mustangs is the extremely low gas pedal. It makes heel-toe shifting almost impossible, and can even prevent full throttle operation. The fix is extremely simple, and in my case I used the smallest hose clamps I could find. I used the cable clamps to remove some of the slack from the cable at the gas pedal. I just put the clamp on the cable after it comes through the pedal, and it lifted the pedal just the right amount. Your experiences may differ. If you have a aftermarket shifter on your Mustang, chances are you're putting up with a lot of gear whine and other noises from the transmission. Go to Lowe's or some similar Home Improvement style store and buy at least 4 1/2" sink washers and 2 metal washers just large enough to cover the face of the sink washers. Cut a large enough hole in the sink washers for the shifter handle bolts to fit through, then put a metal washer on one bolt, then a sink washer, then the handle, then another sink washer. Now bolt the shifter handle back up, and enjoy a quieter ride. Be sure to check the bolts from time to time to make sure they're not coming loose. Almost all Mustangs with lowering springs have squeaks rattles and other interior noises that aren't so pleasant. What I did to help remedy this problem was judicious use of double sided tape. This tape has a foam padding, and can be used to eliminate many of these noises. 0-60 - 6.98 with 2.09 60' 1/4 Mile Time - 14.92 @ 90mph 2.08 60' 1/8 Mile Time - 9.51 @ 69mph 2.08 60' |
